Before you download
Is Coot really free?
Yes. The local app is free, with no account and no sign-up required. There are no per-seat or per-token bills — it runs on hardware you already own. An optional paid cloud tier will come later for teams that want it, but the local app always stays free.
Which Macs are supported?
Coot runs best on Apple silicon (M1 or later), which handles local models fastest. Intel Macs are supported too. More memory means you can run larger models; 16 GB or more is comfortable for heavier work.
When will Windows and Linux be available?
Both are in active development, alongside more platforms and apps over time. We're not committing to a date yet — macOS is what's ready to download today.
Does my data leave my computer when I install Coot?
No. Models run on your hardware, and your files, email, and connected accounts stay under your control. There are no uploads and no training on your data — privacy is the architecture, not a setting.
